Too many kayaks! This one needs a home and an owner who can paddle her more often than me! This a super lightweight cedar-framed skin on frame kayak, hand made on a design by Brian Schulz.
This kayak will be at the holiday picnic paddle — check in with me for a test paddle: Anthony Sousa, 727-455-2615, anthonygsousa@gmail.com.
More info:
- Mostly cedar frame. Very light weight.
- Skin is nylon canvas and polyurethane.
-
- Note the skin is showing some signs of wear. It is still good. I have discussed this with Brian. He says it doesn’t need a new skin yet.
- His recommendation: cover any worn areas with additional polyurethane, or give the entire kayak a new coat of polyurethane
- See his website for recommendations on polyurethane
- For the seat:
-
- Previous owner used a cut piece of foam pad, which is fine.
- My recommendation is installing a carved foam seat, an NDK foam seat, or a “happy bottom” seat. Lots of options online from Chesapeake Light Craft.
