Trip title: Jigg’s Landing to Linger Lodge Level 1+ Paddle

Trip leader: Michael Kapson, 714-357-2939, Michaelkapson1@gmail.com

Description: It’s time for another down south paddle. This time we will be paddling from Jigg’s Landing to the Linger Lodge restaurant. Jiggs Landing was founded in 1944 by Al “Jiggs” and Agnes Metclaf, who turned their 7-acre property into a popular fish camp on the Braden River. After serving as a local landmark for over 40 years, Manatee County purchased the land in 2004. It is now a public wild life preserve that features a roller kayak launch, cement boat launch, bathrooms, cabins for rent and a snack bar. We’ll paddle 4.2 miles to the Linger Lodge restaurant where restrooms are available, as well as the opportunity for some good food. We’ll return to Jigg’s after a break at the Lodge for a total of just over 8 miles

Location: Jigg’s Landing is located at 6106 63rd Street East, Bradenton. There is plenty of free parking, and spaces for trailers. Jigg’s landing offers a convenient loading zone and a hose to wash down your kayak afterwards. Additionally kayak’s are available for rental.

Schedule: Saturday 11/22/25, Meet up and unload at 8:30am for a 9:00am launch. Approximate return time no later than 1:00pm

Difficulty: This will be a level 1+ paddle only due to the distance. All TBSKers and guests of all skill levels are welcome. This is a smooth flat water paddle with very little current.

Recommended: All types of kayaks are ok and should have deck lines and/or grab loops, as well as sealed bow and stern flotation. SUPs are also welcome on this paddle and should have a leg leash attached (although there are alligators on this paddle).

All participants must wear a PFD and carry a whistle or other sound-producing device. Also make sure you bring sunscreen, sun hat, other sun protection, bug repellent and plenty of water and some snacks if you like.

If you have any medical issues that might impact your paddling, please notify the leader before the trip so that they can be best equipped to assist you as needed.

Currently the registration is limited to 10 participants, if another leader is available and volunteers that number will be increased. Please register (or cancel) on the website or contact the trip leaders to notify them of any last minute changes to your plans to participate.
