DESCRIPTION: We’ll launch from the beach and paddle south along the shore to Mangrove Point. From there we will take a heading of ~136 degrees for 1.7 miles to Sand Point. Once at Sand Point, we can take a break and determine our route (inside or outside) to Mags Hole.
LOCATION: EG Simmons Park is located at 9680 Pennsylvania Avenue in Ruskin. We'll meet at the kayak launch. There is a $2 per vehicle entry fee at the park.
SCHEDULE: 9 a.m. is our planned on-shore circle and brief, then paddle away. Please arrive early enough to unload and get ready (8:30 is recommended). We'll finish no later than 12:30 to give folks time to put up their boats and gear and gather for a picnic lunch at 1 p.m. Make sure you also register for the picnic!: https://www.tbsk.club/event-6061849
DIFFICULTY: Level 3, distance of 8 miles, some in open water, may be choppy, must have open water skills.
REQUIRED/SUGGESTED: Sea kayak at least 15' with water-tight bulkheads, deck lines, and spray deck. As with all TBSK trips, paddlers are required to wear properly fitted PFDs. Bring plenty to drink and snacks.
