Trip title: Rec/L1 Navigate, paddle and explore the islands (Paddle & Training combined)

Description: We will paddle and explore islands and points of interest around Boca Ciega Bay.
Bring your compass, your senses, and sense of adventure. We will paddle around small islands near War Veteran’s Park while noting land and water marks as we experience wildlife in and out of the water. Total miles 3-4 miles. 9:30-10:05am Nav primer/ training. 10:15am launch.
Unload kayaks prior to training.
10:10am-11:50am - we navigate, paddle, and explore. IF you SKIP navigation training, please be ready to launch by 10am.
Location: War Veterans Memorial Park. Kayak launch site is at southernmost tip.
Schedule: Saturday, July 15, 2023. Meet at 9:30am for Navigation brief / 10:15am launch and paddle. Approximate return 11:30-Noon.
Additional information: Public restrooms by parking lot.
Guests allowed: Must sign online waiver by Friday, July 14 at noon and meet rec level requirements. Must register for event after completing waiver.

Required / suggested / restricted: Kayaks 12’ or longer. PFD worn, compass (if you have one, not required). Water, sun protection, sunscreen strongly recommended. A snack and dry bag for phone or personal items suggested.
