Trip leaders: Jill Lingard (jill.lingard@gmail.com, 352-665-1776) & Scott Jantz (scottjantz2@gmail.com, 386-853-5159).

Description: Join us for an up-and-back paddle of the Hillsborough River, launching and returning to Rotary Riverfront Park. We'll shoot for paddling upstream to Trout Creek Park, which will make this an 11-mile trip up and back.  We can paddle beyond or turn around before Trout Creek.  Weather conditions and the mood of the group will guide us.  As of Friday afternoon, Sunday's forecast looks good until mid-afternoon.  We have received intel that the river is clear of major obstructions from Sargeant Park to Rotary Park.

Location: Rotary Riverfront Park, 8000 E Fowler Avenue in Temple Terrace

Schedule: Sunday, June 4.  Meet at Rotary Park at 8:30 AM for a 9 AM launch.

Additional information: The Florida Office of Greenways & Trails puts out a good map/guide of this state designated paddling trail here.

Difficulty:  This is a protected, meandering river...you will have many opportunities to practice your turning strokes!   The trip is rated Level 2 due to our total mileage likely being over 10 miles.

Required/suggested:  PFDs must be worn.  Bring a lunch snack and plenty to drink.  If you have a waterproof camera and or binoculars...the birding on this river is usually spectacular!

See the Skills Self Assessment Chart on the web site and contact the leader with any questions. Please register (or cancel) on the web site or RSVP to the trip leader to allow notification of any changes.
