Jim Greenhalgh is a senior navigator, instructor, and life member with America’s Boating Club (United States Power Squadrons) and has taught boating safety and navigation since 1991. He draws on his vast sail and powerboating experience as a lifelong boater and avid sea kayaker. He is also a U.S.Coast Guard approved vessel examiner and performs courtesy Vessel Safety Checks, providing boating safety education to owner/operators of vessels up to 65’, including kayaks, canoes, and SUPs. Jim is one of the original members and a past president of Tampa Bay Sea Kayakers and is a co-founder of the Kayak Adventure Group, a sea kayaking club based on Florida’s west coast. Jim also wrote Navigation Rules for Paddlecraft, a free educational booklet available online, and currently writes a regular paddling safety column called Paddle Smarts for The Ensign, the official magazine of the United States Power Squadrons/America’s Boating Club.
