Description: The Tampa Riverfest is this weekend and of course is best enjoyed from the river by kayak. We will launch from the Seaplane Basin on Davis Island and head up the shipping channel. Viewing the commercial shipping docks from the water can be very interesting. Farther upriver we will pass by several locations that frequently have live music that we can enjoy without the crowds. The highlight of this trip is the lighted lantern parade on the riverfront at 8:30pm. The return trip will be lit by the full moon. We should arrive back at the launch point at 9:30-10:00pm.
Total miles will be 8- 10 depending on route. Arrive at 6:00pm, launch when everybody is ready. A HAND-HELD WHITE LIGHT is the Coast Guard required minimum for night paddling. If you need a light, we can lend you one. Let me know!
Additional information: This is a Level 2+ trip due to the length and challenges of night paddling.
