Trip title: Explore Caledesi launching from Dunedin Causeway L1.5 / Forward stroke and Navigation (reading a chart) primer

Description: We will paddle and explore the mangroves of Caledesi and the waterways around it, using navigation principles to get there.
Bring your compass and sense of adventure. Total miles 4-5. 9:15-9:45am Nav primer/training. 9:45 group brief/introductions.
10am-12:30pm we paddle and explore.
Location: Dunedin Causeway, west of kayak rental place. (Facing south at water and kayaks, we will be to the right).
Schedule: Sunday, May 28, 2023. Meet at 9:15am am for Navigation chart primer/ 10:00am launch and paddle. Approximate return 12:30-1pm.
Additional information: Public restrooms by high and dry grill (east of the kayak rental place). Optional lunch get together at Frenchy’s afterward (Note*-it may be crowded due to the holiday weekend).
Difficulty: 1.5 (0.5 added due to distance and potential winds).
Guests: Yes, you can bring a guest (kayak rentals are available at site) provided the online smart waiver is signed by the participant one day prior to event. Must be physically able to paddle the distance posted in the kayak used.
Required / suggested / restricted: Kayaks 13’ or longer. PFD worn, compass (if you have one, not required). Water, sun protection, and sunscreen recommended. A snack and dry bag or garbage bag for any island or water cleanup during the adventure would be great!
