Pithlachascotee River - Level 1

Attractive place for a Level 1 outing as the temps cool down. This paddle starts in New Port Richey at Frances Ave Park and winds its way up the river through the James E. Gray Preserve (home to 140 species of birds). We'll follow it as far as we can which is typically a 4-5 mile round trip paddle. After passing a few homes it quickly gets wild as we enter the Preserve. Pleasant place Hank introduced me to.
The Frances Park landing (5574 Frances Ave, New Port Richey) is far enough from the parking to bring your kayak cart. Restrooms there.
Let's meet at 10:00 and launch by 10:30. Level 1 casual pace, anticipate returning by 1pm. Stretch break at the Preserve pier.
