Location/Schedule - Meet Trip Leader Al Tillson to launch from Craig Park, 100 Library Lane in Tarpon Springs at 10 a.m. to launch at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday December 21st.
Description - The trip will paddle out to the Anclote River and farther upstream than the club has been on any recent trips. This will put us in waters that are more sheltered from the wind.
We'll be paddling for about 3 hours on the river.
Requirements - All boats should be at least 15 feet long and have sealed flotation and bow and stern grab loops and/or deck lines. Be sure to bring plenty of water, lunch, sunscreen, bug repellent, and footwear that will protect you against oyster shells at take-outs. If you have a spray skirt, please bring it.
Because the water and air temperatures are dropping, please be sure that your clothing is adequate to keep you warm should you get wet. Obviously avoid cotton as a base layer and include a paddling jacket or other waterproof outer layer. Remember that Tampa Bay Sea Kayakers requires that all trip participants wear a PFD and carry a whistle or other sound-producing device.
