Is there anything prettier than tropical fish swimming around a reef in clear water? Join us on Zoom at 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 8 to hear about how to keep those beautiful reefs healthy.
Our speaker will be Ilsa B. Kuffner, a research marine biologist for the Coastal and Marine Geology Program in St. Petersburg. (usgs.gov) Ilsa investigates the causes and effects of coral reef degradation, exploring local- to global-scale stressors on reefs. Her task is to experimentally determine how environmental variables such as sea-surface temperature, water quality, and seawater chemistry affect coral, and to inform resource managers about ways to protect and restore degraded reefs.
