There seems to be a large number of TBSKers that have birthdays in March and April, so let's get together to celebrate another year. Since EVERYBODY has a birthday this year, except Hank who never seems to get any older, we can celebrate EVERYBODY'S birthday this coming Saturday.
Meet at the Arrowhead picnic area at Fort DeSoto Park, 3500 Pinellas Bayway S., Tierra Verde, at 9:00am for a 9:30 launch. We will paddle across Bunces Pass and north to Irma Pass on the inside of Shell Key Preserve. At Irma Pass we will disembark and enjoy cake - CAKE! - and possibly ice cream.
At Irma Pass we can spend a leisurely couple of hours relaxing, playing in the water with the boats and generally enjoying the company and the weather. Gentle, no-pressure rescue practice and balance drills have been known to occur! Mary will probably paddle her surf ski for some entertainment.
Our leisurely return trip will wind through a mangrove tunnel that we haven't visited in a while. The trip back will begin about 12:00 or 1:00 p.m. when everybody is ready or when the power boaters show up.
All kayaks welcome as long as there is at least one watertight compartment. PFDs required of course. Must be comfortable paddling over boat wakes on the return trip. Bring lunch or a snack and plenty to drink. Beach chair or blanket to sit on is optional.
