Trip title: Honeymoon (Dunedin) Causeway to Some North Spoils

Trip leader:  Dave Schmidt   dave@tbsk.club or 608-842-0135 (h)

Description: Launching from the Honeymoon Causeway (usual spot just west of the Sail Honeymoon concession).  Paddle north through the bridge and head for the nearest spoil island listed as Horseshoe Island on Google maps.  Long break, pick up any garbage that'll fit in our hatches then head north to the next spoil island which is a bird sanctuary.  Can't land there but we'll pass around it before heading back to the Causeway launch.

Bathroom at the launch.  Going for lunch at Molly Goodheads after the paddle.

Location:  Honeymoon (Dunedin) Causeway,

Schedule:    March 8th.  Let's gather at 9:00 and be ready to paddle by 9:30.  Casual pace (and beach break) for about 5 total miles so we should return by 1:00p -ish.

Additional information:  Low tide @ 9:00a (.83 ft), high @ 2:52p (2.44ft).  Current forecast is mid-70's with light winds out of the south.

Difficulty:   Level 1 so easy pace and under 5 miles total. Casual break at Horseshoe Island.  Should be light winds but we'll be on some open water so some chop could present a challenge.  Two boat channels to cross where extra caution is warranted.

Suggested:  Any time we're on St. Joseph Sound I'd want boats with watertight hatches/floatation and a sprayskirt. Of course wearing a sprayskirt means you are comfortable with performing a wet exit.

Please review the Skills Self Assessment Chart on the web site and contact the leader with any questions. Please register (or cancel) on the web site or RSVP to the trip leader to allow notification of any changes.
