Description: This month we’ll work on different kinds of draw strokes to move our boats sideways. These maneuvers serve many useful purposes on the water. Maybe you want to approach a friend to pick up something. Before we knew they were called draw strokes, Scott and I employed them all the time to pick up debris on cleanups. Safety-wise, being able to move sideways efficiently can speed up your assisted rescue by approaching a swimmer’s bow faster. We’ll walk you through the steps of each stroke and then put them into use through some fun simulations.
Location: East side of Gandy Beach in St. Petersburg near The Getaway restaurant.
Schedule: Meet at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 17, and launch by 10:30 a.m. Weather permitting, we’ll finish up around noon.
