TBSK Monthly Meeting - Non-Members Invited

  • 11 Nov 2019
  • 7:00 PM
  • Bill Jackson’s Shop for Adventure, St. Petersburg

Join us at the monthly meeting (the second Monday) to learn about various kayaking related topics and meet other kayaking enthusiasts.

Steven Henkind, navigation instructor for the Coast Guard’s sail-powered training cutter the Eagle, will describe life onboard the vessel during last summer’s cruise from England to Norway on which she encountered a full gale in the North Sea. The 295 foot ship (technically a "Barque") sails around the world conducting training and diplomatic missions. She is the only active square-rigged sailing vessel in the U.S. military.  Steve is also an ACA Instructor Trainer (one of only two in the state of Florida) and an L4 Open Water Coastal Kayak Instructor. His presentation will be illustrated with photographs from the Eagle’s cruise.

As usual, our generous host Bill Jackson’s will provide hot dogs, chips, cookies and soft drinks about 6:45. Please arrive to enjoy the food and camaraderie before the meeting.

The meeting, open to all, begins at 7 p.m. at Bill Jackson’s Shop for Adventure, 9501 US Hwy 19 N in Pinellas Park.
